Pitch:

Scrappy director Cali Daniels has landed her big break on one of TV’s most anticipated series. But the surly yet sexy Director of Photography, who’s also gunning for the job, has somehow burrowed into her heart. Oh, and, minor detail: the show’s archaic producer still thinks a woman’s place is fetching coffee.

Excerpt:

Sex was a tricky thing.

A powerful amount of discipline went into making sex effortless, yet magical.

No, not magical. “Magical” was too cliché, and Calliope Daniels knew that cliché was the death knell of good sex. Saying it was good didn’t make it so. It had to be good.

Making good sex was Cali’s job. Well, not exactly making the sex, but making the most fake, awkward, and public sex look intimate and real. That was why the hotly anticipated network TV series, The Demon, had hired her to direct THE EPISODE. The crucial scenes when the demon lead and her human prey, after burning for each other like supernova suns for the entire season, were finally going to get it on. And who did they want to direct that seminal sex scene?

Calliope Daniels.

Because she was good at sex.

Well, and the tiny fact that the original director had been fired after making unwanted advances on one of the extras.

Cali flung open the door to the Atlanta studio and raced through the sets, as her mind scoured through the script. This was a make or break moment in her career. She knew she was going to have to be more than good. It was an unspoken reality on set that a male director had the first day of a shoot to win the trust of the cast and crew. A female director had the first scene.

    Dear Noel,
Your opening excerpt immediately drew me into LOVE, CAMERA, ACTION, and you have a fun premise. Please do send me the first 50 pages with a short synopsis (if one is available), and I look forward to reading further. My email is atuttle@dystel.com, and please note that this is a Pitch Wars request. Also, if you receive a request from more than one DGB agent, please approach the agent you feel might be the best fit and notify us of other requests in the agency. We’ll work it out on our end. I wish you success in Pitch Wars and with your writing and will hope to hear from you.
    Best,
