Pitch:

NINE PERFECT STRANGERS meets THE HERD. Haunted by the disappearance of a childhood friend, jaded Fil-Am Delia joins an exclusive women’s wellness community in the hopes of finding the other estranged friend who might have answers. But when Delia uncovers a darker agenda amongst the group’s leadership, she must choose between remaining complicit in a community she has longed for, or risk her life to uncover the secrets of her past.

Excerpt:

The same summer I lost my virginity to my best friend’s brother, I lost my other best friend to the waves and depths of Blythe Lake.

In the morning, before the full brunt of the July heat hit us, we piled stolen beers and wine coolers onto our inflatable pool float and set sail to our destination, a wooden platform in the middle of the lake. Cara swam out in front, the float’s rope tied around her torso as she cut through the water’s mirrored surface. Zee and I followed on either side of the float, keeping our precious supply safe. At one point, we stopped paying attention and a lone can of PBR tilted and rolled off. I saw it out of the corner of my eye before it vanished into the water.

“No!” I wailed and dunked my head below, grasping for it. It sank fast, and I lost sight of it in the murky silt far below.

When I surfaced, Zee tattled on me. “Delia lost one!”

Cara tossed her blonde hair over her shoulder and looked back, laughing. “Delia, you bitch! Tom would kill you if he knew you were wasting his stash!”

It wouldn’t be a month later that Tom Snyder, already enrolled in the local community college, would take me in his arms and whisper into my flesh how beautifully sad I was.
