Pitch:
I’ll be Gone in the Dark meets The Crossfire Series
For freelance reporter Stella Thompson, Cole Maxwell’s sex life is not news. Most men would be offended, but Boston’s most enigmatic bachelor is intrigued by Stella’s disinterest in him. With her own set of reservations, she accepts his invitation to explore his clandestine world. But falling for him means risking her privacy and destroying her credibility and her future as a serious investigative journalist.
Excerpt:
I picked up the pace in an effort to shake Alexis, but she stayed on my heels as I turned the corner onto Temple Street. “You have to ask him about her, Stella. Everyone will be thinking it.”
“The owner of the most successful hedge fund in Boston is giving a private lecture on international economic policy. A rumor that he may have been on a date last night is going to be the last thing on anyone’s mind.”
Alexis shook her head and dug through her oversized Louis Vuitton tote bag, muttering under her breath about me being ‘so difficult.’ She emerged with her phone, frantically typing away on the screen instead of making any effort to avoid walking into oncoming traffic. In Alexis’s mind, a rumor about Cole Maxwell was far more important than personal safety.
“Right here.” She lifted the iPhone high in the air as if she had found the holy grail. “‘Boston’s favorite (and most rarely seen) bachelor Cole Maxwell was spotted in his private box at Fenway Park last night with Victoria’s Secret Angel Amber Livingston.’”
“I saw the article.” I shoved her device away from my face. “How is that relevant to his lecture?”
“It doesn’t have to be relevant. He was seen in public. With a woman, no less. That in and of itself is news.”
